The wonderful wisdoms of Advice from a Tree (author Ilan Shamir) inspired me to make polyptychs in 2017 and 2019, also with African influences. Sand and hidden messages "naturally" used... The six-panel consists of 80x60 cm canvases and the 16-panel (also exhibited in London) has 30x30 canvases. The works are available individually and in series and vary in price from €111 to €333.

Time for reflection...

It’s been (?) a weird time when we’ve been thrown back on ourselves. Many experienced lonely moments, looking for something to hold on to. Not easy for everyone. Trust is nice, but in who, in what... Staying close to yourself and being able to interact with yourself is a great thing. But that is not for everyone.

Here too it has sometimes been quieter, there were plans that fell apart. The inspiration was there, but the productivity was not.

With some hick ups, now I’m back on track...

Another change of paintings in this atmospheric hair salon.
Four "bulls on paper", framed and well, are hanging together with canvases with zodiac signs that have never been exhibited at Wilco. These symbols of zodiac signs have their element (water, fire, earth or air) as a background and in all paintings a striking "hidden message" is incorporated.

How I will miss them! According to Wilco when I went to pick up the Dance & Ballet paintings ... And again he offered me the opportunity to exhibit a number of wipes in his hairdressing salon at Kerklaan 5 in Rijswijk. The mystique of the Totem animals continues to inspire and the series expands. Every new creation in this period will be posted at Wilco. ”

Animals as symbols of healing power. In the Native American tradition, medicine stands for everything that can help people to feel more connected to nature. The medicine cards of Jamie Sams & David Carson teach us a lesson and provide insight into the person through the creatures from the animal kingdom.

Both the maps and the explanation in the beautifully illustrated book inspire me to a new, growing series of paintings, each of which carries a “hidden message”. All canvasses are 30x30x4 cm. Eagle, Black panther, Whale, Turtle, Bear and Wolf have already found their way to the canvas. In the making are Lizard, Spider, Deer and Butterfly.

My Winter exposition could be visited at Kapsalon Wilco van Smoorenburg in Rijswijk. Small cloths canvasses and panels with characteristic dance movements. In his atmospheric hair salon, 18 somewhat smaller works by my hand were exposed. Canvasses of 20x20 cm and panels of 25x30 cm. I indulged in this to capture my two old loves. A number of characteristic movements from my years of ballet period and Latin American dances with my brother Rolf immortalized in acrylic, sand and stone.

October 13 was the animated and successful opening of “Power and Simplicity”. About 40 guests visited my autumn exhibition in the new premises of Spark Fitness and Fysio, Zoetermeer, which was devoted to

Spark is a contemporary gym with professional personal trainers. Owner Stefan Koot: “Everyone has the qualities to be successful and the best version of themselves. Sparking that passion and giving someone the right perseverance ... We ignite that inner flame at Spark! ”.
He also reinforces these words in other areas. Spark recently opened its doors in a new location in Zoetermeer at Koraalrood 17. Stefan offers various artists the stage to exhibit there.

Landscape: Rural vs. Urban/Contemporary Art were the themes of this groupexhibition in the artistic heart of London . My returning favorite subjects - slow down, simplify, space - applied to the multi-tych Advice from a Tree (too) got a very nice place here. I extend the Advices with those of the Moon, Sky, River and Ocean. Also the diptych African Landscape (Freedom above and Down to earth below) took attention.

Host Blue Coded (formerly P-Pro's) is a partner in IT challenges and software solutions. A fast world, one would think. Nevertheless, these innovators strive for easy going and a low threshold. And for the non-obvious solutions ... and there was the inspiration for the six-part Advice from a Tree. The other paintings also have an undertone of simplicity, suspension and bygone wisdoms. Do they contrast with the complex matter of these Zoetermeer IT entrepreneurs? Or is it the silence and the "come on in" that are necessary for the innovative solutions they offer their customers ... Host Blue Coded (formerly P-Pro's) is a partner in IT challenges and software solutions. The exhibition at Hair salon Wilco van Smoorenburg in Rijswijk looked back with existing work, but also ahead with the first six colourful canvases of the zodiac signs. In all exhibited works, "hidden messages" are processed, which are related to the constellations and their properties. This gives a personal character to the paintings and makes them ideal for gift giving. With assignments there is plenty of room for your own wishes, such as size, colours and addition of materials, clippings, but also photos.

With the theme "Three of a kind" the core of the Aetelier - Liesbeth Hogervorst, Ria Smit and I - exhibited in district center De Blauwe Tram in Leidschendam. There was a selection of our work in various halls throughout September and October 2016.

The festive opening was done by visual artist Jos van den Berg on September 4, 2016.

Small canvases, which can be used as gifts for births and anniversaries, were on display in the cozy little shop "Taart van Aalt" at the Wassenaarse Lange Kerkdam.

For a first exhibition "HAIRwork CRAFTwork ARTwork" at Hair salon Wilco van Smoorenburg at Kerklaan in Rijswijk, six styles inspired by hairstyles were made in various sizes, all acrylics.
